New OSHA Administrator to Speak at VPPPA

John Henshaw, newly-confirmed OSHA administrator, will speak to\r\nmore than 2,000 safety professionals \r\nat this year's National Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association (VPPPA) Conference.

John Henshaw, newly-confirmed OSHA administrator, will speak to more than 2,000 representatives from some of the nation''s top-ranking companies in workplace safety and health protection at the Annual National Voluntary Protection Programs Participants'' Association (VPPPA) Conference, Aug. 27-28, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside in New Orleans, La.

Henshaw built his 26-year career in safety, health and environmental protection at Astaris, Solutia and Monsanto, companies that are strong supporters of VPP.

The assistant secretary will join keynote speakers Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao and John L. (Jack) Hurst III, Executive Vice President-Chlorovinyls Group for Occidental Chemical Corp. at the opening general session.

On Tuesday, Aug. 28, Henshaw and Davis Layne, deputy assistant secretary, OSHA, will take part in an interactive premier focus session, "30 Years Inside and Outside of OSHA." This unique workshop will focus on OSHA''s direction, past and present, and allow audience members to ask questions on the agency''s future plans.

Lee Anne Jillings, executive director of the VPPPA said, "Mr. Henshaw brings a wealth of experience in safety, health and the VPP to his new position and we look forward to hearing his views on the agency''s future direction."

"Jazz Up Safety with VPPPA" is the theme of the VPPPA Conference.

More than 80 workshops with topics ranging from ergonomics to OSHA compliance will be offered to attendees of the conference.
