The workers suffered "extensive burns" due to an explosion in a metal dust collection system at Atlas Steel Products Co. in Twinsburg, Ohio, according to Capt. Glenn Broska of the Twinsburg Fire Department.
The three employees, who were maintenance workers, needed to be flown via life flight helicopter to two local hospitals.
The cause of the explosion, which occurred around 10 p.m. on Sept. 11, is under investigation, Broska said.
Atlas Steel Products, according to its Web site, is a producer of aluminized steel and a supplier of stainless steel. The Twinsburg-based company has six locations, most of them in the Midwest, according to its Web site.
