Safety Harness Recalled

Dec. 20, 2007
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Gorilla Treestands issued a Dec. 18 voluntary recall for a full body safety harness.

The recall affected Gorilla’s Pullover Style Full Body Safety Harness, model SP40300, which was sold as an accessory with the Gorilla 2007 ladder stands for hunters. According to the recall, the safety harness “could fail during use, resulting in a hunter falling from the tree stand and suffering serious injuries or death.”

The recall includes an estimated 60,000 harnesses sold in sporting good retailers nationwide from April through October 2007. Customers who own harnesses labeled with batch code numbers 020507, 030507 or 040507 should discontinue use and contact Gorilla to receive a free replacement harness.

No injuries or fatalities have been reported in connection to the safety harness.

Gorilla Treestands is based in Flushing, Mich., and sells tree stands, ladder stands, safety vests and harnesses for hunters.
