Walking-Working Surfaces and Personal Protective Equipment [Infographic]

While the majority of OSHA's changes to the Walking-Work Surfaces Standard take effect in January 2017, employers have an extended compliance timeline for some parts.
OSHA estimates that these updates to its General Industry Walking-Working Surfaces and Fall Protection Standards will prevent 29 fatalities and 5,842 lost-workday injuries every year.
In addition to providing more flexibility for employers when it comes to choosing personal protective equipment for fall protection, the updates include the ability for employers to use what OSHA designates as non-conventional fall protection based on the employer's unique worksite, such as designated areas on low-slope roofs.
