#WINNING: EHS Today Comes Out a Winner in ASBPE’s Azbee Awards of Excellence Program

July 29, 2014
EHS Today receives two national and three regional ASBPE Azbee Awards.
EHS Today again has been honored for editorial and design excellence as part of ASBPE’s Azbee Awards of Excellence program.

EHS Today’s Editor-in-Chief Sandy Smith received the top award for editor’s letter/editorial at the July 25 National Awards Banquet of ASBPE (the American Society of Business Publication Editors). Smith received the national Gold award for her editorials “Wellness…What??!” and “A Voice for the Silent.”

EHS Today also won a Bronze national award for Special Section. The section – written by Smith, Taslima Akhter, Repon Chowdhury, Taherul Islam, Garrett Brown, Dara O' Rourke and Scott Nova – was an examination of the global supply chain focusing on workplace safety and health failures in Bangladesh. “Bangladesh: Is Worker Safety Failing in the Global Supply Chain?" featured articles written by injured workers, worker advocates, academics and government officials. (You can download a PDF of the special section here.)

Smith and EHS Today also took home Heartland Region Gold awards for Editor’s Letter/Editorial and Special Section for the Bangladesh issue, as well as a gold for Feature for former Senior Editor Laura Walter’s article “Beyond the Playground: When Bullying Elbows Its Way Into the Workplace.”

The Azbees are one of the most competitive awards programs honoring business-to-business, trade, association, and professional publications. The awards recognize outstanding work by magazines, newsletters and digital media.

With the addition of these five awards, EHS Today has received more than 25 regional and national awards from various organizations for editorial excellence and design since 2005.
