Redesigning Production for Remote Work

COVID-19 has necessitated large adoption of remote work, except for manufacturing. But what if workers could control robots on the production line from the safety of their homes?

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced employers to reexamine work policies.

Many office staff have been ordered to work remotely. Meanwhile, those in manufacturing are still expected to report to traditional production facilities, albeit with additional precautions or safety measures in place, such as staggered start times or breaks, more distant work stations, wearing personal protective equipment, and more frequent cleaning and sanitizing. 

But what if production workers could operate robots remotely?

That idea isn’t so far-fetched, based on work being done by Manufacturing USA Institute.
