Safety Technology Guide for Small Business
A new guide from the National Safety Council, Small Business Guide to Safety Technology, offered early this month, is intended to help small and medium-sized employers effectively adopt safety technologies.
“Smaller organizations (those with fewer than 500 employees) may feel that major safety interventions, especially those involving technology, are out of reach,” NSC says in the guide. “However, small, strategic investments in the right tools can help reduce risk without straining your budget. Many of these solutions can also improve productivity, boost employee morale and streamline operations, offering value beyond safety alone.”
The guide includes a five-step process developed by NSC’s Work to Zero initiative:
- Assess workplace risks
- Identify which safety technology solutions are the right fit
- Determine readiness for safety technology
- Make the business case
- Plan for pilot programs and technological implementation
The guide features additional resources, including a safety technology overview, sample safety questions to ask employees, sample feedback questions for employees and suggested questions for potential vendors.
