NSC 2012: EHS Today Editorial Board Member Carl Heinlein, Others, Honored for Distinguished Service to Safety

The National Safety Council recognized six Individuals for their commitment to safety and health at the opening ceremonies of the National Safety Congress and Expo.

The National Safety Council on Oct. 22  recognized six individuals with the highest honor it bestows on safety professionals. Each year, Distinguished Service to Safety Awards are presented to individuals who, throughout their careers, have demonstrated outstanding service to the field of safety and health and were nominated either by one of the NSC occupational safety volunteer groups or the Board of Directors.

“Through their lifetime dedication to safety and health these individuals have moved their organizations forward on the Journey to Safety Excellence,” said Janet Froetscher, National Safety Council president and CEO during the opening ceremonies of the National Safety Congress and Expo. “As we celebrate 100 years of safety at this year’s Congress & Expo, these honorees join a distinguished group of DSSA recipients who have left a strong legacy of saving lives and preventing injuries.”

Recipients of this year’s Distinguished Service to Safety Award are:

  • Terry Anderson, business unit safety and security manage for Kerry Ingredients & Flavours, who was recognized for outstanding efforts within the Business & Industry Division.
  • H. Andrew Batty, Jr., president of Buckingham Manufacturing, who was recognized for outstanding efforts within the Utilities Division.
  • Lynn Beiswanger, CUSA, CLCP, transmission system maintenance safety coordinator for the Basin Electric Power Cooperative, who was recognized for outstanding efforts within the Utilities Division.
  • EHS Today Editorial Board Member Carl W. Heinlein, CSP, ARM, CRIS, OHST, CSHM, CPEA, senior safety consultant for the American Contractors Insurance Group, who was recognized for outstanding efforts within the Construction Division.
  • Victor S. Kelly Jr., CHST, project health and safety manager at Bouygues Civil Works Florida, who was recognized for outstanding efforts within the Construction Division.
  • Ronald Miller, Distract 142 ground safety director with the International Association Machinists (IAM) Union, who was recognized for outstanding efforts within the Labor Division.
