OSHP Day also raises awareness and pride in the EHS profession and salutes the years of education, training and practical experience and skill that it takes to be qualified to identify workplace hazards and to develop methods of prevention of on-the-job injuries, illness and property damage.
OSHP Day is celebrated every year during North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week during the first full week in May. It will take place this year on May 9.
Employers, co-workers and the general public are encouraged to say “thank you” to their workplace safety professionals. ASSE’s Salute Your Safety Professional initiative, where companies and co-workers can recognize their local safety professional, is an opportunity to recognize the outstanding efforts of EHS professionals. Employers and co-workers may submit the names and photos of EHS professionals they would like to honor, and ASSE will pay tribute to them by:
- Including his or her photograph and biography on ASSE’s Web site.
- Sending a news release to your organization’s local media.
- Including him or her on a list honoring EHS professionals in ASSE publications distributed to over 34,000 ASSE members and non-members alike.
