Mobile devices are rapidly replacing PCs as the primary means of checking email and will soon become the primary avenue for consumer spending.

How do you use your smart phone? Chances are you have one; 91 percent of Americans do.

Nearly four in five of us use them to check email, and soon smart phones will become the primary avenue for consumer spending. Has your company been fast or slow to adopt this new avenue as a way to conduct business, provide recordkeeping or distribute apps related to the business?

Most businesses have been shockingly slow to adapt – 3 in 4 do not even optimize their emails for mobile viewers.

This infographic from Bolt Insurance illustrates some current trends, along with some ideas of how forward-thinking businesses can succeed by going mobile. Here are a few facts from the infographic:

  • 16 percent of smartphone users have made a purchase from an ad on their phone.
  • Nearly 4 in 5 smartphone users check email on their device.
  • 48 percent of businesses don’t know how many of their emails are read on mobile devices.
  • 70 percent of consumers delete emails that don’t read well on mobile.
