Pelican Products
California-based Pelican Products Inc. announced the acquisition of its Australian distributor, Pelican Products Australia Pty. Ltd. The company enlisted a senior executive, Christian Nyman, to head up the Australian business unit and expand the Australian business for Pelican's international group. In other Pelican news, the company recently hired retired Command Sergeant Major Loren Simpson to lead its U.S. Government Sales. The company also recently appointed retired Marine Corps General Peter Pace as its board chairman.
“I am excited to join the Pelican team and help build on their work in the military sector and identify new, cutting-edge products and technologies that will equip the next-generation soldier,” said Pace.
RAE Systems Inc.
RAE Systems Inc. recently received European ATEX safety certification for use in explosive atmospheres or hazardous environments for its two third-generation photoionization detector (PID) based instruments, the MiniRAE 3000 and ppbRAE 3000. These products have applications in industrial settings, environmental monitoring, indoor air quality and hazardous materials response. The MiniRAE 3000 and ppbRAE 3000 are used to measure where hydrocarbon-based chemicals pose a toxic threat. They can be used for both leak detection and industrial safety.
Best Glove
Best Glove appointed Jay C. Hickel to its central region sales team as a territory manager for sales in Alabama, Mississippi, East Tennessee and the Florida panhandle. Hickel's 30-year career includes various territory sales positions for the safety division of 3M. He has extensive knowledge of the business-to-business sales environment where he has specialized in selling through distributors and working with end users.

Pittsburgh-based Industrial Scientific Corp. announced Scott Lordo was appointed to the newly created position of global director of product development. He will lead the company's product development process, build a program office and lead the global coordination of engineering practices and standards. Lordo's experience include working as a senior engineering manager of rail solutions and an application/development engineering manager for Cattron-Theimeg.
United Sales Associates
Paul Lorkowski recently joined the United Sales Associates team. He will cover the majority of the Indiana territory. Lorkowski is a graduate of Hillsdale College in Michigan and has an extensive background as an independent manufacturers rep in both the safety and janitorial/sanitation markets.
