Oct. 1, 2014
There’s still time to register for EHS Today’s Safety Leadership Conference, which takes place Oct. 27-29 in downtown Indianapolis.

EHS Today’s Safety Leadership Conference started with facility tours today at the Westin in downtown Indianapolis. Attendees visited Cummins Inc.'s Columbus Midrange Engine Plant, Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services Facility, Subaru of Indiana Automotive and Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing Plant.

The jam-packed conference agenda includes thought-provoking educational sessions; safety tours of major manufacturing facilities; an awards ceremony for the America’s Safest Companies Class of 2014; and inspiring keynote sessions by Dr. Rick Fulwiler and John Drebinger.

Drebinger, a popular motivational speaker, will help attendees adopt the mindset of world-class safety leaders by sharing the secrets of safety champions who send their people home safely day after day. Drebinger has worked with and studied with the best and brightest in the field of safety, including organizations such as Anheuser-Busch, BP, Caterpillar, Johnson Space Center, Sherwin Williams, Sony Pictures, Toyota and Westinghouse Electric.

Drebinger’s keynote presentation will help kick off the 2014 Safety Leadership Conference during the opening session on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Fulwiler, the former global director of health and safety at Procter & Gamble, is a familiar face to many EHS leaders. For the past three years, EHS Today has named him one of the profession’s most influential EHS leaders, and he is well-known as an author, speaker and safety guru.

In his presentation, Fulwiler will explain why transformational leadership is the key to engaging the workforce, and he’ll teach specific skills that will help leaders become more transformational.

Fulwiler’s presentation will take place during the general session on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

The conference will offer informative breakout sessions in four tracks: Safety and Risk Management; Compliance; Construction; and Safety Technology. Highlights will include:

  • “Employee Engagement: How Kennametal’s ‘Find-and-Fix’ Program Keeps Employees Enthusiastic on the Topic of Safety” (Safety and Risk Management track)
  • “They’re Not My Employees: The Practical and Legal Pitfalls Involving Temporary Employee Safety” (Compliance track)
  • “Key Elements of a World-Class Construction Safety Program” (Construction track)
  • “Cross-Functional Safety: Teaming Between EHS and Engineering” (Safety Technology)

On Tuesday, Oct. 28, EHS Today will honor the 19 America’s Safest Companies of 2014, during a reception at Ruth’s Christ Steak House in downtown Indianapolis. Since 2002, America’s Safest Companies has honored 175 organizations for their unwavering commitment to worker safety and health and environmental stewardship.

The entire conference agenda, along with details on registration and accommodations, is available on the Safety Leadership Conference Web page.
