What a strange, sad week it’s been.

So many are missing or dead following the flash flooding along the Nepal-China border. There are simply no words for the images of the glacier melting and the damage it has caused.

The beloved Dolly Parton died, followed by Tim Curry and Peter Cullen. Then there was the announcement of Yayoi Kusama’s death a earlier this month. Each one of these artists has taught me about life and made me feel the broad spectrum of human emotion. What a loss.

As though Mother Nature is telling me it’s simply her way, the temperatures have cooled, and my maple tree is starting to change colors. Ironically, its leaves are turning red before my beefsteak tomatoes.

I’m trying to soak up every last ounce of summer, while my husband is buzzing with anticipation that fall is nigh. In times like this, where you can feel so many changes in the air, I like to pause and let them stir around me like the wind. I know there’s no stopping for what’s to come, but I can ready myself for it.

Wherever you are, whether you’re eagerly awaiting or dreading the building thrum of what’s to come, I hope you can find a respite. Whether It’s a hike in the forest or a day at the beach, let’s all take a moment to savor the last of summer.
